Shale Development and Shale Fracturing Fundamentals, Houston, Oct 1 - 2, 2013
This two-day course provides an overview of how and where oil and gas is being developed from shale and other tight reservoirs, with special emphasis on how the evaluation, development and fracturing techniques are different from what is applied in conventional oil and gas fields. The presentation material and pace of the course is designed for those involved with the oil and gas industry who have little to no technical training in evaluating or designing wells and require additional information so they can better support, guide, value, forecast, or service those activities. Those requiring a more in-depth review of the technical aspects of these topics may wish to attend the three-day "Shale and Tight Oil Technical Evaluation and Development" course. A complete set of course materials and lunches are included.

Steve Hennings is Unconventional Gas Manager for Source Rock Engineering, in Littleton, Colorado. He is a registered professional engineer and holds degrees in Petroleum Engineering and in Finance. Steve has 30 years of industry experience which have included various field, office, and research center assignments covering every phase of oil and gas exploration and development. His focus for the past nine years has been on Coal Gas, Coal Mine Methane and Shale Gas development in Canada, Australia, China, Indonesia, India, Turkey and the United States. During the past four years, Steve has conducted private and public Coalbed Methane and Shale Gas workshops in nine countries. The courses have focused on various primary topics including drilling, completions, testing, computer simulation, operations, reservoir engineering and development fundamentals. In 2008 he was awarded the prestigious annual Stefanko Award from the Society of Mining Engineers for his technical contributions.
